Room Details & Pics

Every one of our cabins is entirely unique! Detailed descriptions are below – but if you’re ready to book, click here to make your reservation online. Or, if you have any questions about which cabin is right for you and yours, email us at hello@theandiron.com or call (707)937-1543.

Cabin 1 – Nature

NATURE is cozy cabin-tastic and chock-full of everything good about camping and cabins from way-back-when, including a guitar and book of campfire songs, and comfy easy chairs. The mural is of a lake in upstate New York. Oh, and there are lots of owls – our favorite is the owl lamp above the table. Sweet!

NATURE has a king bed, kitchenette, fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $184 to $214 plus tax per night. NATURE adjoins NURTURE. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.

Cabin 2 – Nurture

NURTURE is beauty school kitsch and comfort. The Asian barkcloth curtains above the bed are classic fifties. The barber chair came from our favorite salvage yard in Berkeley, as did the doctor’s scale. This room has great lamps! Like the silver deco lamp, the glowing turquoise globe, the fifties aqua plastic, and the glowing Genesee beer lamp in the closet. The mural is a photograph of an old Midwestern hair salon. Feel free to play with the clothes in the costume chest. And make sure you try our old highway motel standard, Magic Fingers for a few minutes of old-school jiggly relaxation.

NURTURE has a queen bed, electric fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $149 to $174 plus tax per night. NURTURE adjoins NATURE. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.

Cabin 3 – Here

HERE is an homage to the North Coast. The two murals are classic Mendocino bluff views. The wine-barrel coffee table is a nod to the best grape-growing in the world all around us. Of course, we had to include lots of nautical kitsch – we have working wharfs in the area – and fishing art (no, that’s not an oxymoron). And, do enjoy the Pomo, Ohlone, and Miwok indigenous peoples’ history along with the tall tales found in the local books we’ve left on the coffee table!

HERE has a king bed, kitchenette, fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $184 to $214 plus tax per night. HERE adjoins THERE. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.

Cabin 4 – There

THERE is world travel circa 1960. It all started with the four posters on the walls from Contra Costa Travel – pretty awesome, but a little worse for wear since we found them in the bottom of closets when we cleaned out one of our childhood homes. This room has the BEST lamps, especially the glowing globe and the three-globed pole lamp. We also love the pull-down school map, the salvaged trunk and suitcase tables, the nifty old geography games and puzzles, and the record player and language albums. And, the Viewmaster in this room has the most extensive selection of international travel slides. Have fun!

THERE has a queen bed, electric fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $149 to $174 plus tax per night. THERE adjoins HERE. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.

Cabin 5 – Read

READ is library chic with books books books, writing desk with multicultural reference books, plenty of comfy seating, fireplace, glasses (for reading, natch), our unique library postcard museum and a mural made from a photograph of an unknown university’s library. Oh and a highly eclectic selection of books, from classics to modern.

READ has a king bed, kitchenette, fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $184 to $214 plus tax per night. READ adjoins WRITE. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.

Cabin 6 – Write

WRITE loves writers and writing! There’s an entire chalkboard wall to fill in. A piano-turned-desk with a good old typewriter and a stack of newsprint. Our old family dictionary. For inspiration and enjoyment, we’ve filled the walls with great writers – Hurston, Austen, Morrison, Lorca, Hughes, and more – and great writing, including one page each from a set of great American short stories, a few classic Chinese and Persian poems, and a bit of Grimm’s fairy tales.

WRITE has a king bed, electric fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $149 to $174 plus tax per night. WRITE adjoins READ. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.

Cabin 7 – Play

PLAY is all about fun, with a selection of new and old games (we LOVE games), vintage bingo art, mod fabrics, a funky and fantastic games table, and the word search wallpaper and chalkboard wall to record your finds. We found the wallpaper in France, of all places, and you’ll find some French words along with English words (and, ahem, a couple dirty words too). The cabin also features two of our beloved sixties spaghetti lucite globe lamps. Have fun!

PLAY has a queen bed, bathroom, deck, and rents for $124 to $149 plus tax per night.

Cabin 8 – Make

We once read ‘It used to be that people would get in touch with their inner child. Now, people seem to be getting in touch with their inner-grandma.’ MAKE is for those people! Knitting, origami, stamps, crayons, craft kits, and OF COURSE, paint-by-numbers – including a work in progress for you to add to. Feel free to pull up to the craft desk and use our supplies to create your own masterpiece. MAKE also features two of our fantastic sixties spaghetti lucite globe lamps – in orange, which cast the sweetest glow at night.

MAKE has a queen bed, bathroom, deck, and rents for $124 to $149 plus tax per night.

Cabin 9 – William & Mildred Suite

Our largest cabin, the Suite is a romantic getaway for two or perfect for groups that have rented several cabins and need a gathering space. It features a large living/dining room with a sofa that converts into a comfortable bed, a cool camel bar, vintage club mural, dining table for four, kitchenette, a separate bedroom with king posturepedic bed, two bathrooms (one with a fun bubbly tub). The suite is an homage to the romance of William and Mildred during WWII, with a little 40s glam and touching – real – love letters the pair sent to each other from afar.

The Suite has a king posturepedic bed, convertible sofa bed, kitchenette, two gas fireplaces, two bathrooms, a jacuzzi tub, private deck, and rents for $264 to $309 plus tax per night.

Cabin 11 – Curious

CURIOUS features all sorts of ways to indulge your curiosity about the world around us. You’ll have fun with a working telescope and guides to the night sky, fantastic-old-but-working binoculars, field guides to local flora and fauna, science kits, inspiring scientists from today (Mae Jemison! Neil deGrasse Tyson) and yesterday (Hypatia!), Audubon prints, and even a bird whistle. We’ve filled our forties-era maple cabinet with smarty-pants games and an eclectic mix of books and activities. Finally, there’s also a sweet mural of the moon and stars. Magical!

CURIOUS has a king bed, kitchenette, fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $184 to $214 plus tax per night. CURIOUS adjoins CURIOUS-ER. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.

Cabin 12 – Curious-er

CURIOUS-ER was the first room we redecorated and it’s a little peek into our personal style. It features, well, VERY CURIOUS items and activities. An original 8-ball. Kreskin’s ESP. Dogs wearing suits. Old-timey circus art (including the mural of the undercarriage of an old carousel). Sci-fi travel posters. A Ouija board. Chalk dogs. A little bit of the mysterious Masons. And – the best of all – our perfect condition 1950’s Viverator, which we found in a salvage yard! Sit back and relax – you may never leave!

CURIOUS-ER has one queen bed and one twin bed, electric fireplace, bathroom, deck, and rents for $149 to $174 plus tax per night. CURIOUS-ER adjoins CURIOUS. The two cabins can be rented together or separately.
